When Katniss steps up to take her younger sister's place, it's instinctual; she knows what's coming will be brutal. She spends the next two weeks preparing for the Hunger Games: working out, dressing up, showing off, making alliances. She and others ages 12 to 18 have been set against each other. The winner will have eternal fame. Everybody else will die. Let the Games begin!
